Everything is getting more expensive. Coffee, gas, alcohol, especially the things we like.
However, at Valco, we decided to refuse to participate in this general misery. That's why we're proud to launch our new flagship model, the Valco VMK25.2 noise-cancelling headphones. They are technically better, more stable, and more durable than their predecessor – but the price is exactly the same, 199 euros.
If you're looking for the best value for money on the market, you can stop your search here.
Why new wireless headphones at the old price?
How is it possible to keep the price the same when the world around us is burning? Valco's CEO Henri Heikkinen, who is currently waiting for an invitation to the Nobel Prize in Economics gala, explains it like this:
"Inflation is not a law of nature but a choice. Often it's just a fancy word for companies wanting to improve their margins without doing anything extra. [...] When you streamline operations and sales, there's no need to raise prices. That's why the VMK25.2 still costs the same 199 euros... and I can still afford a new SUV."
VMK15 vs. VMK25.2 – Why did we release a new model?
To be honest, there was a slightly awkward reason for the release of the new flagship. We previously launched the more affordable and smaller [Link here: VMK15 headphones], and it accidentally turned out so good that it made our previous flagship (VMK25) look momentarily outdated.
This, of course, won't do. It's not appropriate for the "starting price" model to be technically more advanced than the most expensive model, which is supposed to be our cash cow.
VMK25.2 puts the world back in order: it is once again undeniably our most advanced, best, and most beautiful headphone.
Cutting-edge technology in familiar shells
If you place the old VMK25 and the new VMK25.2 side by side, you probably won't notice a difference. This is a completely intentional decision, for two reasons:
-
Aesthetics: The VMK25 is already one hell of a good-looking headphone.
-
Money: New injection molds cost a bloody fortune.
We considered a new design for about three seconds until we realized that customers pay for sound quality, not plastic molds. So, we spent the development budget where it matters – inside the headphones. This way, we could keep the price in check.
What's new under the hood?
While the exterior is familiar, the insides have been revamped. These are completely new Bluetooth headphones:
-
Brains: Based on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon S3 audio platform.
-
Connections: Supports all the latest "dingeldangel" and the newest Bluetooth versions for a more stable connection.
-
Sound: Sound guru Jasse “Jazmanaut” Kesti has tuned the sound to be astonishingly detailed.
In Heikkinen's words: "You hear things in the tracks you might not want to: the bassist's garlic breath or the producer's despair. VMK25.2 hides nothing."
Valco's philosophy: Noise-cancelling headphones without unnecessary "smart" features
Nowadays, even a toaster needs AI and Wi-Fi. We swim against the current. The VMK25.2 headphones do not have:
-
AI that analyzes your dreams.
-
Heart rate monitor (you probably know you're alive).
-
Touch controls that go haywire when you scratch your ear.
-
Flashing disco lights.
Instead, we focused on the holy trinity: studio-quality sound, comfort, and long battery life (55 hours of full blast with noise-cancelling on).
Coming soon: Valco app (maybe)
Our entire new collection ([Linkitä: NL25], VMK15, and VMK25.2) is compatible with the upcoming Valco app. Our bouncer buddy Christian is currently coding the app alongside his day job, with beer as his main reward.
The app will be ready when it's ready, but the support is already built into the hardware. The goal is for the app to adjust the equalizer (EQ) and let you listen to soothing nature sounds, like "market square seagulls" or "elementary school cafeteria."
