Everything is getting more expensive. Coffee, gas, alcohol. In other words, especially the things we actually like.
But here at Valco, we decided not to take part in this general march toward misery. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new flagship model, Valco VMK25.2 -noise cancelling headphones. They’re technically better, more stable, and more durable than their predecessor, but the price is exactly the same, 199 euros.
If you’re looking for the best bang for your buck on the market, you can stop looking now.
Why new wireless headphones at the old price?
How is it possible to keep the price the same when the world around us is on fire? Valco CEO Henri Heikkinen, who is currently waiting for his invitation to the Nobel gala in economics, explains it like this:
”Inflation is not a law of nature. It’s a choice. Often it’s just a fancy word for companies wanting better margins without doing a damn thing extra. [...] When you make operations and sales more efficient, there’s no need to raise prices. That’s why VMK25.2 still costs the same 199 euros... and I can still afford a new SUV.”
VMK15 vs. VMK25.2 – Why did we release a new model?
In the interest of honesty, we have to admit there was a slightly embarrassing reason for launching a new flagship. Earlier, we launched the cheaper and smaller VMK15 headphones, and it accidentally turned out so good that it made our previous flagship (VMK25) look outdated for a moment.
Obviously, this will not do. It’s not appropriate for the "starting at" model to be technically more advanced than the most expensive one, the one we’re supposed to use to extract money from people.
VMK25.2 restores the natural order of the universe: it is once again unquestionably our most advanced, best, and prettiest headphones.
Top-tier tech in a familiar shell
If you put the old VMK25 and the new VMK25.2 side by side, you probably won’t notice any difference. This is a fully deliberate solution, for two reasons:
-
Aesthetics: The VMK25 already looks cool as hell.
-
Money: New injection molds cost a fucking fortune.
We considered a new design for about three seconds, until we realized the customer pays for sound quality, not plastic molds. So we put the development budget where it actually matters, inside the headphones. That’s how we managed to keep the price under control.
What’s new under the hood?
Even though the outer shell is familiar, the guts have been completely redone. These are entirely new Bluetooth headphones:
-
Brains: Built on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon S3 audio platform.
-
Connectivity: Supports all the latest possible doodads and the newest Bluetooth versions for a more stable connection.
-
Sound: Audio guru Jasse ”Jazmanaut” Kesti has tuned the sound to be freakishly detailed.
In Heikkinen’s words: ”You’ll hear things in songs you might not actually want to hear: the bassist’s garlic breath or the producer’s despair. VMK25.2 hides nothing.”
Valco’s philosophy: noise cancelling headphones without pointless "smart" features
These days even a toaster apparently needs AI and Wi-Fi. We swim against the current. The VMK25.2 headphones do not have:
-
AI that analyzes your dreams.
-
A heart rate monitor (you probably already know you’re alive).
-
Touch controls that lose their mind when you scratch your ear.
-
Flashing disco lights.
Instead, we focused on the holy trinity: studio-level sound quality, comfort, and long battery life (55 hours of full blast with noise cancelling on).
Coming soon: the Valco app (maybe)
Our entire new lineup NL25, VMK15 and VMK25.2) is compatible with the upcoming Valco app. The app is currently being coded by our bouncer friend Christian on the side of his day job, with beer as the main form of compensation.
The app will be ready when it’s ready, but the support is already built into the hardware. The goal is that the app will let you adjust the equalizer (EQ) and listen to soothing nature sounds such as ”seagulls at the market square” or ”elementary school cafeteria”.
Buy VMK25.2 and fight inflation
The new VMK25.2 is available now. It’s the upgrade nobody realized to ask for, but everyone needs. Get yourself Finnish headphones built to last.
