Product description

Nordell Max is a big speaker for people who like it bloody loud

If the MK3 is the diligent little workhorse of travel speakers, Nordell Max is its bigger sibling. We're not chasing cute and clever sound here. We're chasing walls that rattle and a neighbour who starts googling how to fill out a change-of-address form.

The Valco Nordell Max is built sturdier and fits in pretty much anywhere. This is not for berry pickers and it is not some lightweight tub of plant-based ice cream. It's a hefty roughly 1.9 kg brick that stays put even if you dance the lambada on top of it. Which is not, however, recommended.

Survives splashes and any mental anguish caused by its user

Nordell Max copes outside, inside, in the sauna anteroom, and in that spot of the bathroom where the floor is always inexplicably wet. This speaker isn't designed to go for a swim, but it won't take offence if someone splashes a bit of sauna beer on it.

The buttons are so easy to use you can work them wearing thick gloves, or at a stage of life where fine motor skills are no longer your strongest suit. Bluetooth 5.3 works reliably at around 18 metres in good conditions, and rather less when the universe decides otherwise.

The battery in this thing is so big you can charge other stuff with it. Or at least try. Valco accepts no responsibility if someone hooks it up as a power source for a dead hard drive, or tries to jump-start an old diesel Merc with it on a frosty morning.

Nordell Max plays for up to 12 hours on a single charge, with the LED lights off and the volume at a moderate level. Crank it to the max and love the disco lights, and the battery will naturally drain faster. You'll get the longest play time by keeping the volume moderate and the lights off.

If you want stereo sound, get two Maxes and pair them with each other. When the orange lights blink, the devices shake hands virtually, and after that the racket is twice as big and the neighbours' smiles are half as wide.

If you want smaller and cleverer sound, buy the Micro.
If you want to win at noise and at life, get the Max. Preferably two.

12h battery life

Twelve hours at a reasonable volume. Enough for a long party. If you drink a shot of vodka an hour, you'll pass out before this speaker does. Crank it to max, of course, and the battery drains faster.

Don't take our word for it. Take theirs.

We could tell you how great we are, but that would be a bit suspicious. So we'll let our customers do the talking instead. Reviews are real. Not every product has enough reviews yet, but the ones that do show up first. Photos are taken by customers themselves, and unfortunately it shows.

A middleweight travel speaker for heavyweight use

If the Salora mini-stereos handed out during the 70s Valco bribery scandals were small-time fixing, the Nordell Max is built for heavyweight influence. This roughly 1.9 kilo brick is the gift that silences even the most hardened civil servant. Or at the very least the entire neighbourhood.

Max isn't some refined gadget for audio nerds. It's pure brute force. It plays Irwin with enough pressure to make your trouser legs flap and your conscience scrub itself clean. Bluetooth 5.3 keeps the connection rock-steady, even if the user is wobbling a bit.

The device has a microphone, in case you want to yell at Siri or join a conference call. Thanks to Max, the robot voice replying "Sorry, I didn't catch that" carries at least a block down the street, which makes the humiliation complete.

Buy one if you want sound. Buy two if you want an eviction notice.

Great products without the dead weight*

Did you know that almost all the electronics inside headphones come from a handful of giants?

Everything else is just smoke and sales talk.

A small maker like Valco can use the exact same top-tier components as the famous mega-corporations stick in their pricier models.

We just don't have a thousand employees to feed, a Manhattan skyscraper to pay for, or a CEO with a private jet (yet).

Which is why we can give you the best bang-for-buck on the market.

And what happens after you've bought? Our customer service and Valco's in-house repair team make sure our products last. And if you fancy a change, you can trade your old Valcos back in to us. Try doing that anywhere else.

At the end of the day, the point of all this is simple. We sell headphones to fund our own Death Star, so we can rule the galaxy.

FAQ

More answers to all sorts of questions over here.

How loud does this thing go?

80 watts. Walls rattle and your neighbour starts googling how to file a noise complaint.

Can you pair two of these for stereo?

Yes, the TWS function gets you stereo, which will annoy the neighbour even more.

What's the battery life?

Around 12 hours at a sensible volume. Enough for a long party. If you put away a glass of vodka per hour, you'll pass out before the speaker does.

How big is this?

23 x 11 x 10.5 cm, weight about 1.9 kg. Fits in a backpack, not in your pocket. Unless you're rocking the kind of baggy pants rappers wore back when we were young.

Is there a warranty?

Two-year warranty.
