Product description

Are your headphones an older model? Warranty expired? Did you break them yourself while hammered, and now you're too embarrassed to send them in? No worries. We at Valco don't believe in headphone landfill. If your cans ended up under your backside or the dog ate them, send them over and we'll fix them.

Just buy this package and send us your headphones. We'll repair them and send them back in one piece. The package covers the repair, spare parts, and shipping both ways. It used to be cheaper, but back then it didn't include postage. Customers ended up paying twenty-something on top for shipping, which made sense to nobody, because our shipping deal is cheaper anyway and the package actually arrives.

This service package covers everything a normal warranty doesn't. In other words: if your warranty has expired or you broke the headphones yourself. If your partner broke them while you were off in your own world not listening, send them to us. If you ran them over, send them to us. If the battery went tits up because you tried to charge them with an EV charger, send them to us. By paying just a fraction of the price of a new pair, you get the same amount of extra life out of your headphones as if you'd bought a new pair.

This applies only to VMK25.2, VMK25, VMK20, VMK19 and VMK15 models sold by Valco or our resellers.

Repaired, not thrown away

Send us your broken Valco headphones and we'll fix them. Even after the warranty has run out. Battery swapped, spare parts fitted, headphones tested before they go back. Done in Kajaani, powered by cigarettes, coffee and lager.

Instructions

1. Buy a service package

If you want your headphones serviced, you'll need to buy a service package first.

Heads up: thanks to all sorts of customs regulations, we can only handle service packages within the EU. If you live somewhere outside the EU in the third world, get in touch with customer service first and we'll see how we can help.

Once you order a service package, you'll get a prepaid shipping label and the rest of the instructions by email.

Print out the service slip and pop it in the box.

2. Pack and ship the headphones

Pack the headphones carefully, but sensibly. Honestly, when dozens of packages roll in every day, nobody's laughing while trying to crack open something sealed with glue, tape and concrete.

Include the printed service slip with the headphones, or at least a note with the service ID you were given, your name, return address, phone number, email and some description of the issue. We're not psychics.

Shipping is already paid for since you bought the service package, so just drop the package off.

Don't take our word for it, take our customers'

We could tell you how great we are, but that'd be a bit suspicious. So we let our customers do the talking. Reviews are real. Some products don't have enough reviews yet, but the ones that do show up first. Photos are taken by customers themselves, and unfortunately, it shows.

Repair it, don't bin it

Valco's repair service wasn't born from a vision, a strategy meeting, or a sustainability report. It was born out of necessity.

In 2021 we got a batch of headphones from the factory with a faulty chipset. We didn't know it in advance, because the defect was latent: the headphones worked flawlessly at first and then randomly stopped working. We first tried swapping the broken ones for new units, but the new ones were defective too. So we were sending customers broken headphones to replace their broken headphones. Not exactly the customer experience of the year.

When the fault was finally identified, the chipset manufacturer refused to refund us. As compensation we got replacement chipsets. Thanks for nothing.

The only option was to learn to repair the headphones ourselves. We hired Hannes, an engineer and the kind of person who can fix anything from a circuit board to a wheel loader. Over the spring Hannes repaired every returned pair in Kajaani. He was helped by a handful of "freelancers" and his partner Aino. A lot of cigarettes were smoked and a lot of coffee was drunk in the process.

In the end we repaired every headphone with that chipset defect, and because of the nature of the fault we still repair five-year-old headphones under warranty for it, because we promised we'd fix every one where this issue shows up, and we keep our promises.

Now we have something most of our competitors don't: an in-house repair team that fixes headphones even after the warranty has expired. Most manufacturers' headphones break after a year and a half and go in the bin. Ours break (rarely), go to Kajaani, and come back in one piece.

We also take old headphones in trade with a 40 to 60 euro discount toward a new pair. The trade-ins are repaired, serviced and resold at a lower price. Less e-waste, and Hannes keeps food on the table. Everybody wins.

Great products without the extra dead weight*

Did you know that almost all the electronics inside headphones come from a handful of giants?

Everything else is just smoke, mirrors and sales pitches.

A small manufacturer like Valco can use the same top-tier components as the famous mega-corporations use in their pricier models.

We just don't have a thousand employees to feed, a Manhattan skyscraper to pay for, or (yet) a private jet for the CEO.

Which is how we get to offer you the best price-to-quality ratio on the market.

And what about after you've bought? Our customer service and Valco's own repair shop make sure our products last, and if you fancy a change, you can trade your old Valcos in. Try doing that anywhere else.

But in the end, the real reason we do this is simple. We sell headphones to fund our very own Death Star, which we'll use to seize dominion over the galaxies.

*not counting the founders' extra weight

FAQ

You'll find more answers to all kinds of questions over here.

What does a repair cost?

The repair service price covers the repair itself, spare parts, and shipping both ways within the EU.

How long does a repair take?

Usually 1-2 weeks from the moment we receive your headphones.

Do you fix stuff that's out of warranty too?

Yes! The repair service is specifically meant for situations the warranty no longer covers, meaning your own screw-ups, wear and tear, or toddler tooth marks.

Do you repair other brands' headphones?

No, only Valco's VMK-series headphones (VMK15, VMK19, VMK20, VMK25, VMK25.2). The rest you can chuck in the bin and buy a Valco pair.

Do you ship outside the EU?

Not for now. Customs paperwork makes it too complicated for a small outfit, especially when there's both a product and a service moving back and forth.
