Product description

Nordell MK3 – the best Bluetooth speaker for hot tub shenanigans and under the table

The Valco Nordell MK3 Bluetooth speaker is the perfect combo of everyone’s favorite materials: metal and silicone. It looks, feels and sounds like it should cost a hundred euros more, but nope, it doesn’t. This wireless speaker is no flimsy plastic piece of crap, and it doesn’t sound like a congested robot either, which is what usually happens with cheap models.

This is the best travel speaker for working blokes, hot tub sessions, or even as a gift. It’s been tested to be piss-resistant, so you can safely take it to the bath, the sauna, or even under the bed to provide the bedroom mood with a suitable soundtrack. Just watch this piss-resistance test on YouTube and see for yourself.

A speaker that survives life, and then some

Nordell can handle music in the rain, on a construction site, and on a sunny sandy beach, although in Finland the first one is more likely. The speaker also has a practical attachment loop, so you can clip it to your backpack full of cheap beer if the butler has the day off.

The big buttons are so handy that you can use this Bluetooth speaker even with gloves on. That makes the MK3 the perfect speaker for renovation cowboys, but it also works for people whose ass crack mainly flashes from the gap in an office chair. Thanks to the built-in microphone, the Nordell MK3 also works as a poor man’s conference speaker when needed.

SUPERSTEREO and magical 3D sound

At home, you can pair two Nordell MK3 Bluetooth speakers and get twice the racket, in stereo no less. SUPERSTEREO allows for even more glorious noise. And if that still isn’t enough, the 3D button adds a mysterious feature that tricks your ears into thinking there are more speakers than there really are. Most people think the sound quality improves quite a bit, depends on the ears and the brain.

An honest Bluetooth speaker at a sensible price

This speaker is not entirely our own design. It’s based on a high-quality existing frame that we’ve improved, especially in terms of sound quality. That’s how we, as a small Finnish company, can offer a Bluetooth speaker with a genuinely solid price-quality ratio. The MK3 is a real find in that endless sea of Chinese wireless speakers, and yes, we tested at least 47 of them.

If you’re looking for something smaller and handier, also check out Nordell Micro speaker, which is cheaper and goes with you even on a belt loop. If you’re not particularly poor, the Nordell Max speaker offers more noise for more money.

Sounds just like live!

Right after the picture tube, the next most on-brand Valco product is definitely the ministereos. The youngsters probably won't remember this, but back in the 1970s, thanks to Valco's disastrous business adventures, quite a few politicians received gifts of (among other things) Salora ministereos. These bribes were then later discussed at length in court.

The end result of the trial was that gifts received by politicians are not bribes, but gifts received by civil servants are. Worth keeping in mind when you're shopping for Christmas presents.

We have no idea what kind of ministereos were handed out back in the day, but these Valco Nordell Mk3 ministereos are right up there when it comes to bang for buck. This timelessly designed speaker plays Irwin cleanly, without weirdly boosting the bass or treble, either over Bluetooth or through a 3.5 mm audio cable.

The device also works brilliantly as a conference speakerphone in meetings, or as a poor man's alternative to a voice-controlled home. The thing has its own microphone for conversations and the option to use your phone's voice control (Siri on iPhone and Google Now on Android).

Imagine your friends' confusion when you yell at the speaker, "Hey Siri, play Irwin," and the robot voice replies, "I couldn't find anything in your music matching Irwin." The future is already here today.

Also survives being dunked in water or something similar. Might smell like piss if you dunk it in piss. Resistance to piss has been tested.

So what does it sound like?

In the video below, Jasse "Jazmanaut" Kesti records Nordell’s sound and stereo image with a binaural microphone, which means something, presumably.

Watch this if you’re wondering whether you should maybe buy a bass bucket from [Ison amerikkalaisen korporaation] or [korealaisen konglomeraatin] instead.
