Product description

Small but feisty Bluetooth speaker

The Valco Nordell Micro is a small, feisty Bluetooth speaker that goes anywhere with you. The beach, the sauna, or those desperate backyard barbecues where the only sound system is your buddy's phone making its sad little beeping noise.

A speaker that's not afraid of plumber's crack or the drain

In our opinion, the Nordell Micro is at its best hanging from a belt loop next to a flashing plumber's crack, blasting a hockey game or a football match while you're elbow-deep in the drain clearing the blockage from yesterday's kebab dinner and need the other hand free for a beer can.

Bar-of-soap size, big-speaker sound

In the American measurement system, this speaker is the size of a bar of soap and weighs about as much as an apple. For the rest of us: 200 grams and roughly 10 × 8 × 4.5 centimetres. But don't let the size fool you. This little Bluetooth speaker plays so loud that plenty of bigger and pricier ones go quiet next to it. And like an actual bar of soap, this isn't one you want to drop on the shower floor in prison either. The back has a rubber surface that keeps it from sliding, whether you put it on tile or on the dashboard of a truck.

IPX6 rating: ready for whatever life chucks at it

Just like its big brother, the Nordell Micro isn't fazed by water, sweat, or even the occasional jet of urine, thanks to IPX6 protection. That makes it the perfect speaker for the summer cottage, the building site, or a festival where hygiene is more of a theory than a practice.

Bluetooth works as long as you stay near the beers

Bluetooth has a range of about ten to fifteen metres, and honestly, why would you want your drink or your phone any further away than that. Fully charged, this little portable speaker keeps going for 3 to 6 hours, depending on volume, the weather, and the alignment of the planets. If we'd squeezed in a bigger battery, it wouldn't be this small anymore. And then it wouldn't be this.

Sound from Finland, body from China, the best of both

Truth be told, this is Chinese engineering, and we're not hiding it. Without Chinese manufacturing, you wouldn't be able to get one at a price you can actually afford. But the sound, the tuning and the soul are made in Finland. More specifically at Valco, and even more specifically by Jasse "Jazmanaut" Kesti, who in our opinion is the best audio nazi in Finland, possibly the world.

For the adventure, the couch, or the shower, always along for the ride

The Valco Nordell Micro is the perfect choice for anyone who appreciates good sound but doesn't want to lug around anything unnecessary. This little devil slips into a pocket, a bag, or hangs from your belt, around your neck, or hell, out of an earhole on your adventures. Or just at home, if your adventures are more of the mental variety.

See how this little devil works

Won't believe it until you hear it? Watch the demo video on YouTube. In our opinion, the Nordell Micro plays cleaner and better than anything at this price. If you need something bigger and meaner, check out the "big brother" Nordell MK3, that's a proper Bluetooth speaker.

3-6h battery life

Enough for an afternoon outing or a park picnic. The battery lasts longer than your patience for sitting outside listening to music.

Don't take our word for it. Take theirs.

We could tell you how great we are, but that would be a bit suspicious. So we'll let our customers do the talking instead. Reviews are real. Not every product has enough reviews yet, but the ones that do show up first. Photos are taken by customers themselves, and unfortunately it shows.

Small enough to tuck under your armpit!

Right after the cathode-ray tube, the next most iconic Valco product is, hands down, the mini stereo. The kids probably don't remember, but back in the 1970s, as part of Valco's unfortunate business dealings, more than one Finnish politician received a Salora mini stereo as a "gift" (among other things). These gifts were later picked over at length in court.

The verdict of the trial was that gifts received by politicians are not bribes, but gifts received by civil servants are. Worth keeping in mind when you're sorting out the Christmas list.

We don't know exactly what those mini stereos handed out back then were like, but these Valco Nordell Micro mini stereos are, in any case, the best price-to-performance ratio that will fit in your pocket. The timelessly understated speaker plays back humppa or an audiobook without any unnecessary bass flexing or treble screech, via Bluetooth, as is the way of the modern world.

And because Valco tests its products properly, this speaker also survives IPX6-level soakings, meaning water, sweat, and enough urine trials that we can say with a clear conscience: yes, it handles that too.

Great products without the dead weight*

Did you know that almost all the electronics inside headphones come from a handful of giants?

Everything else is just smoke and sales talk.

A small maker like Valco can use the exact same top-tier components as the famous mega-corporations stick in their pricier models.

We just don't have a thousand employees to feed, a Manhattan skyscraper to pay for, or a CEO with a private jet (yet).

Which is why we can give you the best bang-for-buck on the market.

And what happens after you've bought? Our customer service and Valco's in-house repair team make sure our products last. And if you fancy a change, you can trade your old Valcos back in to us. Try doing that anywhere else.

At the end of the day, the point of all this is simple. We sell headphones to fund our own Death Star, so we can rule the galaxy.

FAQ

More answers to all sorts of questions over here.

How small is it?

Fits in the palm of your hand. Weighs a few hundred grams, slips easily into a pocket or backpack. It also comes with a handy loop so you can clip it to your belt if you want.

Can you pair two as a stereo set?

Yes, the TWS function lets you pair two for stereo. Don't expect them to shake the foundations even then, but they'll happily handle some background music.

What's the battery life?

3-6 hours depending on the volume. The battery lasts longer than your patience for sitting on the porch listening to music.

Is this waterproof?

It handles splashes but it's not fully waterproof. Don't dunk it. We also don't recommend peeing on it, because it has a fabric cover. The smell tends to stick.

Is there a warranty?

Two-year warranty.
